The Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana presents an exhibition in which ten artists – six Italian and four from the participating countries – explore the contradictions and possibilities of new technologies, while using traditional and intentionally non-digital techniques.
After the euphoria sparked by NFTs and Artificial Intelligence, artists have begun to question the deeper meaning of digitalization, adopting a reflective and skeptical stance rather than an optimistic one.
This initiative, undertaken by the Italian Cultural Institutes of Belgrade, Bucharest, and Tirana, and curated by Spazio Taverna, is part of a broader cultural diplomacy project that aims to strengthen ties between Italy and the Balkan countries through contemporary art.
The exhibition offers an important opportunity to reflect on our relationship with technology — not through screens and algorithms, but through the language of painting, material, and performance. It also serves as a cultural bridge between Italy and the Balkans, reinforcing historical connections and fostering new perspectives for collaboration.
Artists: Sanja Anđelković, Federica Di Pietrantonio, Alessandro Giannì, Laureta Hajrullahu, Ledia Kostandini, Numero Cromatico, Alice Paltrinieri, Ginevra Petrozzi, Jacopo Rinaldi, Mădălina Zaharia.
